Asian American Education:  Prospects and Challenges.  By Marilyn Mei-Ying Chi & Clara C.
Park (Eds.) (1999).  Wesport, Connecticut:  Greenwood Publishing Company.
As the first comprehensive survey of major Asian-American groups for educators, this expounds both linguistic and sociocultural backgrounds of seven Asian-American groups (Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese) and how Asian-American students fare American public schools socially, culturally and lingustically. Each chapter illuminates the unique educational issues, needs and challenges of its respective ethnic group and provides very practical and insightful suggestions for teachers, administrators and supportive service providers who work in public schools as well as teacher educators.
